Training Schedule 2016.
After the successful launch of our new Kaleidoscope Technological Centre for the blind on 6 June 2016, we are excited to announce the training schedule for the rest of the year.

Students can enter for any of the modules they prefer – students are however required to know Voiceover to qualify for module two, three or four.

We recommend that potential students have basic keyboard skills, although this is not essential for IOS/touch screen training.

Our Apple training to the public will commence during the first week of September and this year we will focus on IOS only. We will introduce Mac OS10 training by January 2017, so please visit our website regularly for updates on the above.

The format of our IOS training modules will be over 3 days at a cost of R1,500.00 per module.

Module 1 – An Introduction to VoiceOver, SIRI, ZOOM and the i-device.

After completing this module the student will be able to:
⦁ Identify the physical features of the iPad and iPhone
⦁ Toggle VoiceOver and SIRI on/off
⦁ Navigate the device with VoiceOver using the basic VoiceOver gestures    and IOS commands
⦁ Use SIRI and “Hey SIRI”
⦁ Use the various typing methods and onscreen keyboards
⦁ Use the VoiceOver item rotor
⦁ Use Zoom and the Zoom gestures (if needed)
⦁ Personalise the VoiceOver settings
⦁ Use the Phone app
⦁ Use the basic features of Safari

Module 1 will be available during the 1 St week of September, October and November.

Module 2 – Communication and IOS

After completing this module the student will be able to:
⦁ Use the Messages app
⦁ Use iMessage
⦁ Setup e-Mail
⦁ Use the Mail app
⦁ Setup WhatsApp
⦁ Use the WhatsApp app
⦁ Setup Skype
⦁ Use the Skype app
⦁ Setup Facebook
⦁ Use the Facebook app
⦁ Setup Twitter
⦁ Use the Twitter app

Module 2 will be available during the 2 nd week of September, October and November.

Module 3 – Getting organised

After completing this module the student will be able to:
⦁ Use the Calendar app
⦁ Use the Contacts app
⦁ Use the Reminders app
⦁ Use the Clock app
⦁ Use the Notes app
Module 3 will be available during the 3 rd week of September, October and November.

Module 4 – Accessible apps for the blind.

After completing this module the student will be able to:
⦁ Download and install apps from the App Store
⦁ Use the Access World app
⦁ Use the BlindSquare app
⦁ Use OCR – the KNFBReader app
⦁ Use navigation maps/gps
⦁ Use the Be My Eyes app
⦁ Use the Podcasts app
⦁ Use the News24 app
⦁ Use the Pocket Tunes Radio app
⦁ Use the AppleVis website

Module 4 will be available during the 4 th week of September, October and November.

A half day introduction to IPhone and Voiceover is available upon request at a cost of R300.00.
